The Role

Hain Daniels are currently recruiting for a Student Developer at our Grimsby site. In Grimsby, we manufacture fresh soups for our New Covent Garden brand and for private label.

To support the R&D team to deliver products which meet the set quality, safety and margin standards, by assisting with concept & process development across kitchen, factory & office setting.
Key Responsibilities

Product & Process Development to support the R&D Team by carrying out set tasks & activities including:

Taste Panels

  • Set up product panels: shop benchmarks, collate samples, heat/ prepare
  • Attend taste panels
  • Clear away post panels


  • Organise  & distributing sample requests
  • Make repeat kitchen samples
  • Collect/ shop/ order standard and new ingredients
  • Label & pack off samples
  • Organise courier/ delivery
  • Stock take & stock rotation of samples & ingredients  to ensure smooth running of kitchen

Concept Development

  • Input details to product documentation
  • Complete nutritional calculations
  • Assist the Senior & Product Developers with internal& external meetings
Factory Trials & Process Development
  • Organise trial stock and raw materials
  • Support at factory trials
  • Collate trial data
  • Carryout washouts and record the results
  • Complete reheat testing, suitability for freezing, travel testing
  • Help build product files in accordance with procedure

Team member

  • Track spend to ensure Department budget met
  • Offer support to fellow team members
  • Represent RDQ within the business by displaying Hain values
  • Effectively communicate to help actively support cross functional working
  • Help maintain clean & hygienic workspace

What you will need for the role / what it will take

  •  Studying for a food related degree
  • An interest in working in the food industry
  • Full driving licence
    Good communication and organisation skills
    Ability to be flexible
    Basic culinary skills
    Enthusiastic and positive attitude
